The JV Gold Scots scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and ran two kickoff returns back for touchdowns in a 60-7 dismantling of Rockwall in their season opener at Highlander Stadium. Jet Tuma ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in the first half, and 10 different players scored for HP.
The third quarter provided three highlight plays in Anthony Vallera's 89-yard kickoff return to open the second half, Michael Thomas' 52-yard quarterback keeper in the third quarter, and Hayden Greer's 87-yard kickoff return. Parker Van Dyk, one of eight Scots who ran the ball in the game, scored the Scots' final touchdown on a 33-yard run.
The JV Gold's next game is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday back at Highlander Stadium against Jesuit.

| Football: JV Blue wins opener, 22-6 by Scott Farrell | Comment (0) |
The JV Blue team made up of varsity reserve players beat Everman tonight, 22-6, in their season-opener at Highlander Stadium. Alex Keeton scored on HP's first play from scrimmage on a 34-yard run. Hardy Davis made it 9-0 with a safety after sacking the Everman quarterback in the end zone.
Charles Hubbard caught a nice 8-yard fade pass from Scott Ellerman for a 15-0 lead, and Keeton added a one-yard plunge in the third quarter to account for the Blue's scoring. Sam Hayward kicked two extra-points for the Scots - the other was blocked.
The JV Blue plays at Jesuit next Thursday at 7 p.m.

| Volleyball: HP 6th at Nelson tourn. by Scott Farrell | Comment (0) |
The Lady Scots dropped their last two matches at the Byron Nelson Classic, settling for sixth place in the 24-team field. HP beat Frisco Liberty in the first round this morning, then fell to Friendswood in the quarterfinals. Friendswood, from the Houston area and ranked No. 5 in this week's state poll, also beat HP in the championship bracket last season.
Magnolia beat HP, 25-16, 25-19, in the fifth-place game, their second win over HP in a week. HP also fell to Magnolia in the championship bracket of last week's Duncanville Tournament of Champions.
The Lady Scots' next action is a dual match against McKinney Boyd and Flower Mound Marcus beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the newly revamped Highlander Fieldhouse. The second match will be at 6:30 p.m.
