| Football: Scrimmage update by Scott Farrell |
I just got back from the scrimmage, where the Scots played even with Plano West. It was a starting-quarterback debut for Jake Howeth, who was sharp from the outset. The senior hit eight straight passes during the first portion of the controlled scrimmage, and connected on 8 of his first 9.
William Morris turned a normal out-pattern into a 46-yard touchdown to put HP into the end zone on their first possession.
It's hard to qualify a scrimmage where each team runs only 10 plays, and unsuccessful third-down plays return the ball to a team's 30-yard line to start a new possession. But in terms of readiness and conditioning, the Scots performed well and appeared ready for next week.
I'll have a full account of the scrimmage on the home pages soon.
