HP will continue playing in the Tom Landry Classic football series in 2010 and 2011,and is scheduled to face Everman both years in back-to-back season-starting clashes between two of North Texas Class 4A powers. The Scots open the season in their eighth consecutive Landry Classic at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 against Red Oak at SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The feature double-header opens with Plano West taking on Southlake Carroll at 4:30 p.m.

HP has played in the TLC each year of its existence, more than any other school, and is 6-1  in those games. HP beat Everman 42-13 in the 2007 Class 4A state semifinals in their last meeting.

The Landry Classic's selection of Everman, a Tarrant County school, could prompt the game's move from SMU to the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington in those years.
